21 Things I’ve Learned at 21

21 Things I've Learned at 21

Happy Good Friday!

This year I’m turning 21 on April 28th. And this year, I’m not doing a birthday party like the past 2 years. What I truly want for my birthday remains pretty much the same as my Christmas wish list. Besides that, I’d really like some novelty in my life and to destress about hardbound rules and expectations in general and just. be. free.

Since when did I impose the rule that I have to dedicate time prior to 4:30 p.m. to work only? Granted, it sure has worked and served me the best because I actually get most of my work done during those most productive, creative hours of the day, but also, why do I feel so guilty not following that rule?
Guilt is such an energy sucker, and I need a break from that rule at least a few days a week.
This year for my birthday I’m not going to drink. I’m not interested in alcohol. This year… I’ll list 21 things I’ve learned.

1. Always have something / do something that makes you smile.

2. Pull is better than push when it comes to motivation.

Oh happy days. I need a day to myself where I'm allowed to be lazy because this past week has been grind, grind, grind! So today I took it real easy. I woke up early, listened to a podcast, went to the grocery store to pick up some of my favourites(–LETTUCES AND SUGAR FREE 100% DARK CHOCOLATE!), watched America's next top model cycle 22, cooked and portioned out some fish and lamb, took a shower, nd tonight I'm going to meditate, stretch, and sleep by 10:15pm for my early class tomorrow. This week will be full of rehearsals (I'm an acting student) for our upcoming studio show first week of March. I'm thankful for having Sunday and Monday consecutively off because I really needed these two days to regenerate my mental resources for everything going on in school, in class, with my coaching and YouTube too. What's one thing you're doing day in and day out, m'fitties? Share with me!

3. The value you put out into the world will return to you in equal amounts. AKA, Law of Attraction.

4. You don’t have to be tired to deem your day successful.

5. Everything happens for you; not to you.

6. If you can change your thoughts, they’ll change your feelings, which will change your actions.

7. The universe is sending you signs. Always.

8. Courage is not the absence of fear; it is feeling the fear and doing it anyway.

9. I actually really do love journaling. Back when I was in elementary school, I try to keep a journal and write in it every single day but it got tiresome and I grew to the test it. Nowadays, I journal because I have an itch to write! I have an itch to hold a pen in my right hand and scrawl, doodle, write words; sentences that are sometimes, and only sometimes, coherent.

10. I need to save enough zest for experiencing pleasure. That means not using all my juices for work, or working out! I need to save zest for social interactions, for enjoying the daylight and seeing the little things in life that seem to pass by all too fast.

11. Bumble is so much better than Tinder! Had I known this last year, I probably would have chosen to download the former rather than the latter. That being said, I don’t regret my Tinder experiences.

Ever get FOMO? Fear of Missing Out is so prominent in our generation today. Technology has us constantly connected to the happenings of the world, and notifications divert our attention from living the present moment to being addicted to react, read, and indulge in whatever the interwebs has to say. Or text message has to say. But can it wait? The same with life–its OKAY to say no sometimes, because that means you're saying yes to something else, whether that be time for self care, for getting yourself together, for getting in your exercise and forgoing that late night party. And don't feel guilty for it. Guilt is a waste of energy, especially so when you've gained something else by NOT engaging in events. Some thing I tell myself during these times of shame and dismay at my "introvertedness" or regimented-ness is, "I need this. I needed this. This is really important too." • •• ••• What's holding you back from your fullest, most joyful, potential? Lacking motivation? Let's have a chat–you can gain all of this with me! 12. Stop saving so much money! Wow, that’s the total opposite to my whole life.

13. The friends who truly stick by you are the true ones; others just come and go.

14. You actually need less than you think. Minimalism at its best.

15. Looking at the clock sucks. If you get lost in time, you are truly in flow.

16. Worrying is a huge waste of energy.

I had the worst panic attack last night due to my dad; never before have i felt so nauseous and faint. I nearly fainted–I thought i was going to collpase on the stairs and could hardly muster the strength to open the door as i hyperventilated at a fuming, raging father. Dare I call him a "father?" I woke up today not feeling the most refreshed or energized mentally or physically. My heart rate all night was high and I could feel it beating so prominently in my chest. I woke up with it being 25 beats above normal. I'm really weary of the entire day: work, classes, and just everything feels too much to handle emotionally. It's almost as if the sun is even shouting at me with its beaming light. I still have to do the things I do today and a part of me is hopeful that the routine will get me feeling like my old self. I'm not perfect. I strive to be happy and healthy but I'm only human, even being the lifestyle coach that I am. I want to make today good day. Somehow. But I feel empty and numb, and…off. Words of encouragement and reassurance are appreciated, m'fitties. :') • •• ••• What's holding you back from your fullest, most joyful, potential? Lacking motivation? 17. A beginner’s mind is a beautiful thing. So humble, so innocent, so blank. I could paint anything on it’s canvas.

Today's food for thought (or for the soul): • •• WABI-SABI: "a concept in traditional Japanese aesthetics constituting a world view centered on the acceptance of transience and imperfection. The aesthetic is sometimes described as one of beauty that is "imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete." 🤗 • •• characteristics: asymmetry, roughness, simplicity, economy, austerity, modesty, intimacy, and appreciation of the ingenuous integrity of natural objects and processes –(Wikipedia) Life is so much more than grinding through tasks, fixing and bettering. Sometimes there lies so much beauty in the imperfections…❤ Where in your life can you see Wabi Sabi? 👌 I see it daily in the fact that I don't wear makeup so my appearance is always nude and raw, and my food prep skills–> not always the most gourmet-looking! • •• What about you, my fitties? • •• ••• ✔LIFESTYLE/HEALTH COACHING + PERSONAL TRAINING INQUIRIES: darkest.abyss.worlds@gmail.com✔
